To Whom Much Is Given A Novel eBook Cecilia Capers Reviews
Excellent story!!I didn't want to put it down. When I did put it down I contemplated on when I was going to be able to pick up where I left off.
Outstanding job to Cecilia Capers for her first book. It is a must read. Great to read for a book club.
Predictable follows that same old formula
Unimpressed. Too many plots and subplots.
A well written book with well developed characters and storyline. The author, Cecilia Capers, writing reminds me of the kind of work that I would expect from Shonda Rhimes. It's a juicy read!!!! This book is for the reader that is looking for a stimulating read that will take you to another place. I can't wait for this book to be turned into a movie!!!!
Avery Benjamin has it ALL great career and amazing boyfriend but she questions if she is really happy. Dean Swithin re-enters her life and changes her outlook on her career as a lawyer and her relationship with Antonio Dawson. As this story unfolds secrets are revealed and Avery has to decide if she wants to continue her picture perfect life or shake things up....
This novel is well written and Cecilia Capers does an amazing job of keeping you on the edge of your seat. Great read!! I can't wait for the sequel!
I am a fan of the theme of the story. Lawyer Avery and football player/businessman Antonio are in a relationship headed toward marriage. Everything is going along well, when Antonio proposes. An incident leads to conflict in the relationship. Work and business decisions need to be made. Secrets from the past are revealed. It leads to an explosive ending.
I love seeing upper middle and wealthy African Americans in novels. It shows the broad spectrum of the culture. Avery comes from a middle class background. Antonio's family is wealthy. Both of them are humble and very comfortable with who they are at this point in their lives prior to the conflict. I like how Ms. Capers delivers this in the story. You like each of them individually and as a couple.
The author tells a very descriptive story, which I think draws the book out too long in places. She tells you the entire background of every character. I think it was unnecessary and could be better used in the sequel. I wasn't really thrilled with how the novel ended. I thought it ended abruptly. I am going to have to read the sequel to have closure with everything.
All in all, I thought this was a great first novel. And if you get a chance, watch the trailer. It is actually very good.
