We are only 6 chapters into this book, but based on those chapters I recommend this book for grade school level children. It is a sweet, but good presentation of American History, although, definitesly NOT politically correct, being nearly a hundred years old. My children enjoy it, and are gaining a basic understanding of the founding of America.The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that the author managed to write a chapter about the founding of the southern colonies without ever mentioning slavery, at all, or bound servitude in the north. Perhaps it is a little too sanitized, but that might not be all bad for the age it is aimed at.

Engaging writing but full of inaccuracies and racial elitism. This text definitely shows its age. I will be deleting it from my kindle.
In response to the previous review, Chapter XX speaks of slavery. The reading level appears to be geared toward upper elementary.
It's good for children.
The book is a subtle way to introduce the kids to the history of our country. If we can get them to read them.
Excellent free kindle book. My kids love reading books on our Samsung tablet, which is half the battle with young kids.
I loved reading this. It brought simple history into such vivid detail. I learned a lot from this book and enjoyed reading it.
